Makenzie Henthorn was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Shyanne Sellers was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. Megan Fugleberg was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Mark Morris always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodland only posted an OBP of .188.
Meanwhile, Hockinson lost 12-3 to Columbia River on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Hawks in their meetings with the Rapids: they've now lost eight in a row.
Lily Ritton led a balanced group of hitters, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Maggie Ritton, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Hockinson now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Mark Morris, their victory bumped their record up to 10-1.
Hockinson's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mark Morris has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Hockinson, though, as they've been averaging 9.1 hits. Given Mark Morris' sizable advantage in that area, the Hawks will need to find a way to close that gap.
