Marcellus has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Jordan-Elbridge Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Marcellus' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
Marcellus stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 79-38 victory over Solvay at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 48-14.
Marcellus' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Will Burnett led the charge by scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds. Burnett has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Kershaw, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Meanwhile, Jordan-Elbridge was able to grind out a solid win over the Blue Devils back in January, taking the game 56-46. 56 seems to be a good number for Jordan-Elbridge as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Marcellus pushed their record up to 16-1 with that victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 29.9 points. As for Jordan-Elbridge, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.
Everything came up roses for Marcellus against the Eagles in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 84-40 victory. With Marcellus ahead 60-26 at the half, the match was all but over already.
