The McDonough Rams on the road again on Friday and play against the Huntingtown Hurricanes at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th.
McDonough suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They fell just short of Westlake by a score of 46-44.
Meanwhile, Huntingtown entered their tilt with Patuxent with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Huntingtown took down Patuxent 48-32 on Wednesday. Given Huntingtown's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Patuxent is ranked 236th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kelsie Bartlett was the offensive standout of the contest as she scored ten points along with three blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Eva Powell was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three blocks.
McDonough's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Huntingtown, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.
McDonough might still be hurting after the 54-34 loss they got from Huntingtown in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Powell, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 28 rebounds. Now that McDonough knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
