Whetstone had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the Northland Vikings on Monday as Whetstone made off with  a  19-2 win. That's more bragging rights for the Braves, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
 Jillian Nelson and  Avery Bair were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound,  Nelson   struck out eight batters over  three innings while giving up just one earned run off   one  hit. Meanwhile,  Bair   tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off   one  hit. At bat,  Nelson  scored a  run and  stole a base while  getting on base  in all three of her plate appearances, while  Bair  went 3-for-4 with one  home run, three  runs,  and four  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Sophie Schroeder and  Sara Kraus did most of the damage at the plate:  Schroeder  went a perfect 2-for-2 with four  RBI and two  runs, while  Kraus  went 3-for-5 with two  stolen bases and three  RBI.  Gabby Milane was another key player,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
