4A Region II District 14 recap September 4, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Dalvin Manns and Mason Hays connected against Van. The connection was good for 94 yards, the longest such play in 4A Region II District 14 this season.
Sulphur Springs's Willy Ivery recorded the longest rushing play in the league this season in his game against Lee last week. Ivery scampered for 53 yards on the play and finished with 61 on the day as his team lost to the Raiders.
Pine Tree's dynamic duo of Manns and Hays proved to be unstoppable against the Vandals, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Manns threw for 418 yards and 5 touchdowns and Hays had 228 yards receiving. Tyler Smith helped Pine Tree's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 85 yards.
The Pirates' dynamic duo of Manns and Hays proved tough for Van to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Manns put up the best numbers through the air as Pine Tree bested Brady Pennington's team.
Ivery was the most successful running back in the league this week. Larry Pryor also contributed to the rushing game with 63 yards on the ground.
Hays had a great week catching the football as Derek Fitzhenry's team bested the Vandals.
Hays was the best receiver in 4A Region II District 14 this week as the Pirates defeated Van.
Pine Tree moved up to 409 from 579 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Pirates climbed the ranks as a result of defeating the Vandals 42-38.
