The Southern Bulldogs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Northeast at home to the tune of 70-30. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Southern has managed all season.
Southern was led to victory by Ava Wooster and Huntyr Marks. Wooster dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds, while Marks scored 21 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Marks has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sidney Shaw, who scored six points along with seven assists.
Northeast lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brynn Jones, who scored seven points along with four steals. Jones has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kamaria Brown, who scored eight points.
Southern's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32 points. As for Northeast, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
Southern will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against North County at 6:00 p.m. North County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 234th, while Southern is ranked 61st). Northeast will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against South River at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. South River is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
