Covenant Christian took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They blew past the Alpha Omega Academy Lions 20-11. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Dakota Marek was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Marek was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with six RBI, three doubles, and two runs.
In other batting news, Covenant Christian got a massive performance out of Laela Frederiksen, who went 2-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Preslyn Munson, who scored four runs while going 3-for-4.
Alpha Omega Academy is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Covenant Christian will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Alpha Omega Academy at 4:30 p.m. on April 1st. Alpha Omega Academy will also get a bit of a break before their next contest: they'll face off against Cooper at 4:30 p.m. on March 18th.
