The East Central Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They fell just short of Richton by a score of 50-47. While losing is never fun, East Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while Richton is ranked 105th).
Richton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daylin Carter led the charge by scoring 13 points. Carter has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakota Amos, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
East Central's loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-9. As for Richton, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.
East Central and Stone will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Stone focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Saturday. Richton won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Greene County at 7:30 p.m. on December 16th. Greene County is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.4 points per game.
