II Section I recap October 29, 2013
Sunnyslope added to the longest winning streak in II Section I this week by beating Carl Hayden Community, 45-0. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.
Sunnyslope took down the Falcons 45-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Tim Fryson ran for 291 yards in the win.
Gabe Losada threw for 285 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was 27-41 with 1 interception.
Fryson was a beast in the backfield as Damon Pieri's team bested Carl Hayden Community.
Fryson was a passing and rushing force as the Vikings beat Jeremy Zimmerman's team. Fryson's key target this week was Ben Pieri, who caught 2 passes for 30 yards.
Hector Morales was a key player and the best on defense this week as Copper Canyon defeated Camelback. The 5-foot-10 senior grabbed 1 sack.
Fryson was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 291 yards on 9 carries as Sunnyslope beat Browne. Teammate Jeffery Goebel added to the ground attack by rushing for 31 yards.
The Knights' Losada and Vidales have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback Losada has thrown for 3,167 yards this season, while Vidales has 61 catches for 1,078 yards. The Vikings' Fryson leads the league in rushing yards with 1,448.
One of II Section I's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when St. Mary's and Sunnyslope face off next week.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when La Joya Community takes on Fairfax. The Fighting Lobos are currently in fourth, while the Stampede are in third.
The league will see a high scoring game when Todd Williamson's team and the Vikings face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Knights comes in having scored 327 this season, while Sunnyslope has scored 372. St. Mary's scored 41 points last week as it beat the Bruins.
