The South Gate Rams will challenge the Eagle Rock Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
South Gate came out on top against Huntington Park last Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fourth inning. The Rams were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Spartans. Winning may never get old, but the Rams sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Barbara Siero made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Leah Jimenez was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aylin Acevedo, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
South Gate was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .536. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Eagle Rock never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They blew past Lincoln 10-0. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.
Like South Gate, Eagle Rock also got a great game from a two-way player: Marcella Terrazas. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Terrazas was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Marysol Jernigan, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Dalaine Trujillo, who earned two RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Eagle Rock has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for South Gate, their record now sits at 11-16.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. South Gate has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .442. However, it's not like Eagle Rock struggles in that department as they've averaged .448. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South Gate might still be hurting after the 14-1 loss they got from Eagle Rock when the teams last played back in April of 2017. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
