The Lake Minneola Hawks will challenge the Evans Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Minneola is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Lake Minneola's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Friday's struggle, when Timber Creek hitters got past them. The Hawks came up short against the Wolves on Friday, falling 13-3. The Hawks' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Lake Minneola saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Cali, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Evans made sure to put some runs up on the board against Cocoa on Thursday. The Trojans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-10 win over the Tigers.
Zachary Reinert made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Reinert was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Manuel Contreras was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Tarrick Bridges was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-4.
Lake Minneola's loss dropped their record down to 18-7. As for Evans, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-12.
Evans' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lake Minneola hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. It's a different story for Evans, though, as they've only averaged .232. Will they be able to contain Lake Minneola's hitters?
Lake Minneola took their win against Evans in their previous meeting back in April of 2021 by a conclusive 19-2 score. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
