The Smithville Braves lost against the Wright City Lumberjax back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The New Year welcomed Smithville with a 62-31 whooping from Wright City. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Smithville in their matchups with Wright City: they've now lost five in a row.
Wright City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Madison Carter led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was Carter's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mia Reich, who scored 13 points.
Smithville's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Wright City, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Smithville will be playing at home against Earlsboro at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Earlsboro will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings (they are ranked 371st, while Smithville is ranked 138th). As for Wright City, they will head out on the road to face off against McCurtain at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. McCurtain is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
