The Bethune Bobcats had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They narrowly escaped with a  victory as the  team sidled past Pikes Peak Christian  33-31. That's another feather in the cap for Bethune, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
  Madilyn Powell was the offensive standout of the  game as she  scored 22 points along with 5  steals. Another player making a difference was  Samantha Robinson, who  scored 2 points along with 13  rebounds and 8  steals.
 Bethune's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Pikes Peak Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
 Bethune will be playing in front of their home fans against Miami-Yoder at 2:00  p.m.  on Saturday. Hopefully Miami-Yoder focused on turnovers this week  since the team gave up 21 on Friday. As for Pikes Peak Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Colorado Springs School at 5:30  p.m.  on Friday.
