Baseball Recap: Rocky Mount Academy Takes a Loss

Rocky Mount Academy and Harrells Christian Academy squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Rocky Mount Academy had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 4-2. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Crusaders earlier this season, when they won 12-0.

Seth Tickel put in work while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Tickel wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tripp Evans, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Dustin Proctor also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Rocky Mount Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. As for Harrells Christian Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-12.

Rocky Mount Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Harrells Christian Academy, they have already played their next match, a 9-1 defeat against Burlington Christian Academy on the 10th.
