Salem hasn't had much luck against First Colonial recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Sundevils will be playing at home against the Patriots at 5:00 p.m.
Salem is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-9 heartbreaker at the hands of Bayside.
Madison Twiford and Evie Miani stepped up to the plate in a big way. Twiford went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Miani went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Check, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and two doubles.
First Colonial came out on top against Cox on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Patriots took their contest against the Falcons 6-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.
Cori Evans spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits.
On the hitting side, Lucy Domozick was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maura Haesler, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
First Colonial's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Salem, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.
