The Kolbe-Cathedral Cougars put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Crosby with points to spare, taking the game 79-64. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Crosby lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Daniel Melendez, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Micah Blackman, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Kolbe-Cathedral pushed their record up to 17-0 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home. As for Crosby, their loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kolbe-Cathedral will challenge Notre Dame Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Kolbe-Cathedral's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Crosby, they will head out on the road to face off against Waterbury Career Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Crosby knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 16 games -- so hopefully Waterbury Career Academy likes a good challenge.
