Ohatchee is 0-4 against Oxford since November of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Ohatchee Indians will square off against the Oxford Yellow Jackets at 12:00 p.m. Ohatchee will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 360th, while Oxford is ranked 83rd).
Ohatchee's 11-3 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 44-43 to Westbrook Christian. Ohatchee has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Oxford's game on Friday was all tied up 16-16 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 49-41 win over Gadsden City. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Oxford.
It was another big night for Xaionna Whitfield, who scored 37 points along with eight rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Oxford's points.
Ohatchee bumped their record down to 5-9 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Oxford, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-11 record this season.
Ohatchee might still be hurting after the 60-40 defeat they got from Oxford in their previous matchup back in January of 2022. Can Ohatchee avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
