The ThunderRidge Grizzlies waltzed into their match on Tuesday with 11 straight wins but they left with 12. They strolled past Heritage with points to spare, taking the game 59-40. Given ThunderRidge's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while Heritage is ranked 82nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
ThunderRidge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Charlie Spann led the charge by scoring 19 points. Spann hasn't dropped below 15points for nine straight games. Another player making a difference was Tommy Wight, who scored 15 points.
ThunderRidge pushed their record up to 15-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.2 points per game. As for Heritage, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. ThunderRidge will take on Rock Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rock Canyon knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matches -- so hopefully ThunderRidge likes a good challenge. As for Heritage, they will be playing at home against Ponderosa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Ponderosa focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Thursday.
