The Chapel Hill Bulldogs will face off against the Iowa Colony Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Chapel Hill walked away with it. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Ricebirds 54-18 on the road. Given Chapel Hill's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 89th, while El Campo is ranked 312th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Rickey Stewart, who rushed for 222 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.9 yards per carry. Stewart was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 64 yards. Damarcion Blaylock did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 59 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Iowa Colony put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Lindale with a sharp 45-22 win.
Iowa Colony got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jacody Miles out in front who picked up 104 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Iowa Colony also got a significant boost from Aaron Tenner, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 122 yards.
Their wins bumped Chapel Hill to 10-2 and El Campo to 6-6.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as the two teams haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Chapel Hill commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 6.4 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Iowa Colony struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.8 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
