The Almont Raiders had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against Edison Academy on Friday as Almont made off with a 49-24 win. Almont might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won seven matchups by 25 points or more this season.
Jonny Gjoka was on fire: he rushed for 138 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Chase Battani was another key contributor, rushing for 103 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
The victory was the third in a row for Almont, bringing their record for this year to 11-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.3 points per game. As for Edison Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
Almont will take on Ovid-Elsie at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Ovid-Elsie will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Edison Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
