Gustine is 1-6 against Pacheco since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Reds will take on the Panthers in a tournament on Thursday. Gustine is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Last Wednesday, Gustine was able to grind out a solid victory over Delhi, taking the game 13-8. The Reds haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Gustine let Leilah Fara and Shandel Aguilera run wild. Fara went 4-for-5 with four runs, three doubles, and three RBI, while Aguilera went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits Aguilera has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaclynn Lopez, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Gustine was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Pacheco was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 12-2 to Lathrop, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Pacheco saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabella Chavez, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double. That double marked the first that Chavez has hit this season.
Gustine's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Pacheco, their loss dropped their record down to 3-17.
Pacheco's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Gustine hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .429. It's a different story for Pacheco, though, as they've only averaged .251. Will they be able to contain Gustine's hitters?
Everything went Gustine's way against Pacheco in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Gustine made off with a 16-5 win. Do the Reds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
