Baseball Game Preview: Chaparral Roadrunners vs. Conway Springs Cardinals

The Chaparral Roadrunners will take on the Conway Springs Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Chaparral came out on top against Wichita Defenders HomeSchool on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fifth inning. The Roadrunners were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Defenders. The Roadrunners haven't had any issues with the Defenders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Kale Greve made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Chaparral is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-7-1 otherwise. Greve was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Daxton Hostetler was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Vohn Williams, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

Chaparral was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .577. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Conway Springs never let their opponents score on Monday. Everything went their way against South Haven as they made off with a 10-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Conway Springs.

The victory got Chaparral back to even at 7-7-1. As for Conway Springs, their win bumped their record up to 6-11.
