The Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays will head out on the road to challenge the Kearney Catholic Stars on Thursday. Ashland-Greenwood is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
Ashland-Greenwood put the finishing touches on their 11th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They breezed by Malcolm at home to the tune of 52-24.
Ashland-Greenwood found their leader in underclassman Derek Tonjes, who scored 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dane Jacobsen, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Kearney Catholic didn't have too much trouble with Scotus on the road on Saturday as they won 61-47. 61 seems to be a good number for Kearney Catholic as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kearney Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Owen Axmann, who scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Carson Murphy, who scored 14 points along with seven assists.
Ashland-Greenwood's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-2. As for Kearney Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.
Ashland-Greenwood didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Kearney Catholic in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, but they still walked away with a 61-55 victory. Will Ashland-Greenwood repeat their success, or does Kearney Catholic have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
