Baseball Recap: Loris Snags Fifth Win in Last Six Games

Loris had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 21-run drubbing they dealt Marion on Wednesday. The Lions never let the Swamp Foxes get on the board and left with a 21-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Layne Todd looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Loris got a massive performance out of Jackson Huff, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Huff a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Gore, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Loris always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .767. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Loris is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Marion, they dropped their record down to 5-12 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Loris will take on Battery Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Marion, they will face off against East Clarendon at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
