The Pine View Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight defeat. They took a hard 60-45 fall against Cedar. While losing is never fun, Pine View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Cedar is ranked 20th).
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Reese Gustin, who scored 14 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Casey Morley, who scored 12 points.
Pine View's loss was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Cedar, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
Pine View will head out on the road to take on Crimson Cliffs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crimson Cliffs has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Cedar, they will be playing at home against Dixie at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
