The Carbon Dinos will venture away from home to face off against the North Sanpete Hawks at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Carbon has given up an average of 7.1 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Carbon came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 15-0 to Juan Diego Catholic. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Dinos' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Meanwhile, North Sanpete waltzed into their match last Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came out on top against the Templars by a score of 8-3. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 7, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Kaecee Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kaylie Robinson was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mylee Cook, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.
North Sanpete's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Carbon, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Carbon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. However, it's not like North Sanpete struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Carbon might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from North Sanpete in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Dinos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
