The Timpview Thunderbirds will venture away from home to challenge the Spanish Fork Dons at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Timpview is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
On Tuesday, Timpview didn't have quite enough to beat Payson and fell 2-1.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Spanish Fork). They put the hurt on Maple Mountain with a sharp 17-4 win on Tuesday. Considering the Dons have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kayden Lambson tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Spanish Fork got a massive performance out of Jason Pintar, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave Pintar a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Boston Duvall, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Spanish Fork always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .609. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Spanish Fork's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Timpview, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Timpview has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Spanish Fork struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Timpview suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Spanish Fork in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Thunderbirds avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
