Baseball Recap: Evergreen Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Evergreen ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They won by a run and slipped past the D'Evelyn Jaguars 6-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-6 back in April.

Brody March made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with two RBI and one run.

March wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brecken Worthington, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Evergreen pushed their record up to 14-5-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for D'Evelyn, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-14.

Coming up, Evergreen will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Wheat Ridge at 4:00 p.m. The Farmers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for D'Evelyn, they will venture away from home to take on Standley Lake at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
