Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is IMG Academy Gold's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

IMG Academy Gold lost to Southwest Florida Christian back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The IMG Academy Gold Ascenders narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Southwest Florida Christian King's 10-8.

Romolo DeCenzo looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

At the plate, Cade Hudmon was incredible, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Bennett Burke, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

IMG Academy Gold kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

IMG Academy Gold is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Southwest Florida Christian and nudges their season record down to 7-6.

Coming up, IMG Academy Gold will take on Out-of-Door Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Out-of-Door Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so IMG Academy Gold's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Southwest Florida Christian, they will challenge Community School of Naples at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Community School of Naples will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Southwest Florida Christian surely won't give up without a fight.
