The Heartland Lutheran Red Hornets struggled with assists on Friday (the Burwell Longhorns had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Heartland Lutheran took a 43-26 bruising from Burwell. That's two games in a row now that Heartland Lutheran has lost by exactly 17 points.
Despite the loss, Heartland Lutheran saw an underclassman step up: Ema Koch scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Ella Francl, who scored four points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Kaitlyn Simpson went supernova for Burwell, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Simpson has scored all season. Kaitlyn Hughes was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five assists and four steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Heartland Lutheran and nudges their season record down to 8-13. As for Burwell, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-8.
Heartland Lutheran does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Burwell also has no future games currently scheduled.
