Avon scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They were outmatched by the Southington Blue Knights and fell 69-38. The loss continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Blue Knights: they've now lost eight in a row.

Leading Southington to victory were Lily Cooper and Hannah Blanchard. Cooper posted 13 points and four steals, while Blanchard went 5 for 6 en route to 12 points and five steals. Blanchard has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of McKenna Crist, who put up six points and five boards.

Avon's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Southington, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Avon Falcons face off against the Wethersfield Eagles at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday.
