The Bowie Bears scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They snuck past Harmony Science Academy with a 48-44 win. Bowie didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this victory makes it their second in a row.
Andrea Garcia was a one-man wrecking crew for Bowie as she dropped a double-double on 29 points and 13 rebounds. Itzel Olivos was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five steals.
Despite the loss, Harmony Science Academy had strong showings from Miranda Urquidi-Sauceda, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, and Leslie Pacheco, who scored 16 points. Urquidi-Sauceda has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played.
Bowie has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-15 record this season. As for Harmony Science Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-20.
Bowie will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. As for Harmony Science Academy, they will challenge Patterson Institute at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Harmony Science Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 34 on Tuesday.
