The Animas Panthers lost against the Lordsburg Mavericks back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Animas took a 56-37 bruising from Lordsburg. Animas has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Animas' loss came despite strong showings from James Jarvis and Diego Renteria. Jarvis scored eight points, while Renteria scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Renteria has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played.
Animas' loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-7. As for Lordsburg, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-8.
Animas on the road again on Thursday and play against Springer at 4:00 p.m. on January 18th. As for Lordsburg, they will be playing at home against Mesilla Valley Christian School at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
