The Lindbergh Flyers will face off against the Northwest Lions at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Northwest will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Lindbergh extended their winning streak to five on Monday. The Flyers came out on top against Fort Zumwalt East by a score of 10-6.
Adler Crask made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs. That's the most runs he has posted over his last 11 matchups.
In other pitching news, Nathan Leist looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Karsen Stout, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was CJ Luczak, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.
Lindbergh kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Northwest had to endure a ten-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Affton on Thursday as they made off with a 14-3 win. Considering the Lions' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Aidan Amsden looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Northwest got a massive performance out of Cayleb Mckenna, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Wood, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Lindbergh pushed their record up to 28-11-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Northwest, their victory bumped their record up to 6-19.
Northwest's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lindbergh hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. It's a different story for Northwest, though, as they've only averaged .202. Will they be able to contain Lindbergh's hitters?
Lindbergh took their win against Northwest in their previous meeting on Tuesday by a conclusive 8-2 score. Will the Flyers repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
