4A Region 5 recap September 17, 2013
Kyler Freeman and Steve Hlavaty provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Ogden. The connection was good for 66 yards, the longest such play in 4A Region 5 this season.
Roy extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Mountain Crest, 39-27. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Royals.
Logan's dynamic duo of Chase Nelson and Chad Artist proved to be unstoppable against the Tigers, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Nelson threw for 199 yards and 5 touchdowns and Artist had 100 yards receiving. Taylor Compton helped Logan's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 68 yards.
The Grizzlies' dynamic duo of Nelson and Artist proved tough for Ogden to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Nelson put up the best numbers through the air as Logan defeated Kent Taylor's team.
McKay Johns made the biggest impact on defense this week as Mike Favero's team beat the Tigers. The 5-foot-11 senior pulled down 2 interceptions.
Dane Anderson was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 21 carries, he ran for 128 yards as Sky View defeated Ogden. Teammate Braxton Godderidge added to the ground attack by rushing for 33 yards.
Artist was the best wideout in 4A Region 5 this week as Logan bested the Tigers.
He went 12-14 with 1 interceptions.
On the heels of Godderidge and Anderson, the Bobcats have had great success on offense. Godderidge is tops in the league in passing with 997 yards, while Anderson has rushed for 377 yards this season. Tops in the league in receving yards is Bonneville's Sealun Erskine, with 327 yards on 23 catches.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between the Grizzlies and Roy. Logan comes into the matchup ranked 12th in the state, while Fred Fernandes' team ranks 19th.
Ogden fell to the Grizzlies 61-13 last week, the largest margin of any game.
