The Citrus Hurricanes lost against the West Port Wolf Pack back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Citrus took a 61-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Port. While losing is never fun, Citrus can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 587th, while West Port is ranked 252nd).
Citrus' lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cryston Lofton, who scored 18 points along with 5 rebounds. Lofton continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Bryant, who scored 11 points along with 7 rebounds.
West Port was led to victory by Hendel Rivera and Demetrius Brown. Rivera scored 22 points, while Brown scored 24 points. The matchup was Brown's fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Citrus' loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for West Port, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Citrus will be playing at home against Springstead at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Springstead focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday. As for West Port, they will head out on the road to face off against Belleview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
