The NSU University Sharks will square off against the Chaminade-Madonna Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as NSU University comes in on four and Chaminade-Madonna on ten.
NSU University is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Florida Christian, sneaking past 4-2. That's two games straight that the Sharks have won by exactly two runs.
NSU University got a great performance from Matthew Greenberg as he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Greenberg has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bradyn Potter, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, Chaminade-Madonna had just enough and edged out Hialeah Educational Academy 2-1 on Tuesday.
AJ Vargas made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-8.
In other pitching news, Spencer Krasner tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched.
Back at the plate, John Scott Bishop was excellent, going 4-for-8 with one double and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
Chaminade-Madonna kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
NSU University's record now sits at 23-3. As for Chaminade-Madonna, their record is now 22-3.
NSU University skirted past Chaminade-Madonna 4-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sharks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
