Baseball Recap: Merkel Has No Trouble Against San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy

While Merkel put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy. The Badgers blew past the Eagles 12-0. The victory continues a trend for the Badgers in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won five in a row.

Mayson Prieto was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trey Alexander, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Kaden Blubaugh was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Merkel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .565. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Merkel's record is now 11-9-1. As for San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.
