The Luis Valdez Leadership Academy Lions are on the road again on Thursday and play against the El Primero Lobos at 6:00 p.m. on December 14th. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Tuesday, Luis Valdez Leadership Academy didn't have quite enough to beat KIPP Esperanza and fell 28-25.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to El Primero, who are still winless after their sixth game. They fell 65-55 to Kathleen MacDonald on Monday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite their loss, El Primero saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. JOSH CHAVEZ, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals, was perhaps the best of all. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was RICARDO GARCIA, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds.
Even though they lost, El Primero were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Luis Valdez Leadership Academy bumped their record down to 0-4 with that loss, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for El Primero, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-6.
Luis Valdez Leadership Academy might still be hurting after the 55-31 loss they got from El Primero in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Luis Valdez Leadership Academy, Alan Gonzales (who scored 20 points along with four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
