Wheeler County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nikita James out in front who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which James has scored at least a third of Wheeler County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makaylin Harvey, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Wheeler County's win ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-11. As for Dooly County, they bumped their record down to 1-10 with that loss, which was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Wheeler County and Dublin will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Dublin presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Wheeler County in Georgia (Dublin is ranked 138th, while Wheeler County is ranked 496th). As for Dooly County, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Perry at 6:00 p.m.
