Connersville has gone a perfect 10-0 against Batesville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. Taylynn Selby spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits.
At the plate, Carmen Ruble was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Batesville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against East Central, falling 16-4.
Batesville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Copley, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run. Ambra Peck also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Connersville's loss dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Batesville, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.
Batesville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Connersville has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Batesville, though, as they've been averaging 11.3 hits. Given Connersville's sizable advantage in that area, the Bulldogs will need to find a way to close that gap.
Connersville took their win against Batesville in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 17-0 score. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
