Basketball Game Preview: Nolensville Knights vs. Centennial Cougars

Nolensville has gone 6-1 against Centennial recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Nolensville Knights will head out to square off against the Centennial Cougars at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Nolensville has four straight victories, Centennial has 17 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, Nolensville was fully in charge, breezing past Ravenwood 54-8. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 31 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Nolensville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nyla Johnson, who posted eight points and three steals. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Sara Brakefield was another key player, putting up nine points and six boards.

Nolensville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Centennial played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Independence and fell 57-10. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 345th, while the Eagles are ranked 137th).

Centennial's loss dropped their record down to 1-22. As for Nolensville, their win bumped their record up to 20-2.

Everything came up roses for Nolensville against Centennial when the teams last played back in January, as the team secured a 62-13 victory. In that matchup, Nolensville amassed a halftime lead of 40-3, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
