4A District 8 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Vandebilt Catholic extended the longest winning streak in 4A District 8 this week by beating Belle Chasse, 19-7. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Terriers.
Morgan City moved up to 108 from 135 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Tigers were able to make the jump by beating Pearl River 35-13.
Ellender's dynamic duo of Dustin Creppel and Kevin Lucion proved tough for Northlake Christian to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Creppel threw for 237 yards and three touchdowns and Lucion had 73 yards receiving. Jarrod Turner helped Ellender's passing attack out by catching five balls for 58 yards.
Eric Walker was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 23 carries, he ran for 158 yards as Morgan City lost to the Wolverines. Teammate Hoanng Nguyen added to the ground attack by rushing for 63 yards.
Ellender's Creppel and Turner have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 4A District 8 in both passing and receiving yards. Creppel has thrown for 1611 yards this season, while Turner, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 25 catches for 457 yards. Brandin Nowlin's team's Walker leads the league in rushing yards with 362.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Assumption takes on Terry Washington's team. At the moment, the Mustangs are in fourth, while the Patriots are in third.
