The Groesbeck Goats lost against the Westwood Panthers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Groesbeck took a serious blow against the Panthers, falling 81-29. Groesbeck was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-16.
Westwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brandon Russell, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Russell continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Robinson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Groesbeck's loss dropped their record down to 4-19. As for Westwood, they pushed their record up to 21-6 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Groesbeck will take on the Black Cats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Westwood, they will head out on the road to face off against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fairfield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 937th, while the Panthers are ranked 323rd).
