Softball Recap: Seymour Wins Going Away Against Brownstown Central

While Seymour didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against the Brownstown Central Braves on Monday as they made off with a 10-3 win. For the Owls, this counts as revenge for the 9-8 victory the Braves walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Taylor Stuckwisch made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Abby Followell was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was MacKenzie Bryson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Seymour was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Seymour's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Brownstown Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Seymour will venture away from home to square off against New Albany at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.09 runs per game on average), something the Owls will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Brownstown Central, they will be playing at home against Scottsburg at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Braves are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
