The Eastern Comets will take on the Rossville Hornets at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for Eastern: they have been struggling with six straight losses at home, while Rossville has snatched up 17 consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
Eastern couldn't beat Delphi Community on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Comets fell just short of the Oracles by a score of 9-8.
Maddy Stevens was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple was her first of the season. Lauren Hendricks was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rossville). Everything went their way against Frankfort on Monday as they made off with a 37-8 victory. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by seven runs or more this season.
Autumn Paschal was incredible, firing off three home runs, ten RBI, and six runs while going 5-for-5. Those ten RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addi Gorbett, who went 4-for-6 with five runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI.
Rossville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Eastern's loss dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Rossville, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Eastern hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Rossville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
