Hunter Mason was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. Meanwhile, Washington had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Evansville Harrison on Tuesday.
Ben Merold was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Zach Frady, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
