Wakulla Christian School is 8-1 against FAMU DRS since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Saints will host the Baby Rattlers at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Wakulla Christian School has three straight wins, FAMU DRS has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Tuesday, Wakulla Christian School made easy work of Jefferson County and carried off a 17-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won five matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
Grace Johnson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That earned run marked the first that she tossed this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Eme Guyer was a standout: she scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Makenna Hurst, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Wakulla Christian School hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, FAMU DRS was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They came up short against Florida State University High School, falling 22-2.
Haylin Forbes was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
FAMU DRS' defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Wakulla Christian School, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Everything went Wakulla Christian School's way against FAMU DRS in their previous meeting on Friday, as Wakulla Christian School made off with a 26-10 victory. Will the Saints repeat their success, or do the Baby Rattlers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
