The Berthoud Spartans will head out on the road to take on the Northridge Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Berthoud knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Northridge likes a good challenge.
Berthoud is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Wellington 90-50 on Tuesday. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Spartans had established a 24 point advantage.

Berthoud's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Isaac Erickson, who went 9 of 14 en route to 22 points along with eight rebounds and five assists, and Ryan Callies, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 18 points in addition to five boards and five steals. Erickson has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Weston Peatrowsky was another key player, putting up 11 points.
They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Berthoud was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Northridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Severance and fell 67-21. The Grizzlies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-8.
Es Sylvere was Northridge's leading scorer, having posted nine points. Bryson Mena held things down on the boards with four rebounds.
Berthoud's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Northridge, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Berthoud has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Northridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Berthoud barely slipped by Northridge in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 60-59. Will Berthoud repeat their success, or does Northridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
