Baseball Recap: Dexter Sets Scoring Season-High Against Richland

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dexter). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Richland Rebels a 19-0 shutout on Monday. With that victory, the Bearcats brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Nolan Alford was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Kaufman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and four RBI.

Dexter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .806. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Dexter pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Richland, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Dexter will head out to face off against Sikeston at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Richland, they will be playing at home against Leopold at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
